7 Decades of Dedication:
Celebrating a Charismatic Visionary - Rt. Rev. Dr. Nana Anyani Boadum

70 years strong!

About Rt. Rev. Dr. Anyani-Boadum
Rev. Nana Anyani-Boadum is a household name in the Christendom in Ghana. He turns 70 years old on 6th June 2024. A sentence that runs through testimonies of him by men and women of God is that “Rev Anyani-Boadum is the salt which preserves, the spice that flavours, the pudding that offers taste and the light that shines to both the church and society with unquestionable character.”
Born to Opanyin Yaw Addo and Obaapanin Adwoa Akyena at Asankrangwa in the Western Region in 1954, his father named him after his brother, the chief of Asankrangwa, Nana Anyani-Buadum III. Reverend lived most of his life with his paternal uncle in the palace and learned the wisdom of the elders and our culture. He was discipled in Christianity in his early childhood by his grandmother Mercy Amponsaa and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the age of twelve in 1966. Since then, he has been a “voice in the wilderness,” crying, “Make straight the way of the Lord.”
He founded Jesus Generation Ministries in 1982 after seven years of organising mass evangelism throughout the country. From the 1980s to date, he has been very active in CAMPUS MINISTRY at the second cycle and tertiary levels throughout the country, including the Legon Pentecostal Union, Campus Christian Fellowship, Legon Interdenominational Church, Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students.
One of the truest tributes paid to eminent men and women is that which comes from their offspring. Rev. Anyani-Boadum is married to Rev. Mrs. Comfort Anyani-Boadum, and they are blessed with five adult children and 17 grandchildren. Like their parents, all his five children are actively involved in Christian ministry and have excelled in their various professional lives. They are Rev. Dr. Otumfuo Addo Anyani-Boadum, PhD; Rev. Dr. Dr. (med) Oheneba Anyani-Boadum, PhD; Pastor Dr. Nana Kwabena Anyani-Boadum, PhD; Pastor Kristodea Anyani Boadum Darkwa, MA-Ed, and Prophetess Nicky Akyena Anyani-Boadum, LLB. LL.M.
Rev. Nana Anyani-Boadum holds a Doctor of Philosophy, a Doctor of Theology, and a Master of Theology from the Immanuel Bible Institute and Seminary, Brooklyn, New York, USA. He has a diploma in Christian Counselling from the International Theological Seminary, Florida, USA. He is a certified mediator and arbitrator and a member of the Ghana Association of Certified Mediators and Arbitrators.

Some of the things that bring him satisfaction are promoting peace and being a voice for the marginalized. As a member of the National Executive Council of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Reverend serves as the chairman of the membership issues committee and leads several conflict resolution issues. Across the country, he is known and recognized as one of the key Pentecostal leaders who is an HONEST BROKER, a PACIFIER, a PEACEMAKER, and a MEDIATOR to feuding churches and individual Christians. Conflicts within churches often come to his table through their leaders, mostly charismatic and prophetic churches, who see him as a father figure and a man of integrity.

Rev. Anyani-Boadum is a pioneer in the ‘Deliverance’ ministry in Ghana. He started holding healing and deliverance sessions in the Legon Forest in the 1980s and, through God’s grace, brought relief to many families and homes. Known to be self-effacing, everybody who engages him comes away with a testimony that Anyani Boadum does not set out to make himself noticeable or try to get attention. He believes in miracles and the effectual working out of spiritual gifts among individual Christians; that “the manifestation of the Spirit is given to the Church to profit withal.” Notwithstanding, he prefers it being said of him that “Anyani-Boadum bears the fruit of the spirit.” Because of his profound teaching and inspiring exegesis of biblical text, most people refer to him as the “prince of preachers.”
He has a personal ministry towards widows of deceased pastors who are not well taken care of due to the absence of any arrangement in their church’s by-laws to handle the family of the deceased pastor. Seeing how burgeoning ministries and Christian leaders struggled, often lacking appropriate mentorship, Anyani-Boadum makes time to organize leadership training called ‘Theological Education By Extension’ (TEE) for them in their own churches from time to time to foster growth and deepen their understanding of Christian ministry. His focus has been on biblical doctrine and character building, and aspects of post-modernism that pose a veiled threat to Christianity, using his book on Secular Humanism.
Behind his soft and unassuming personality, Anyani-Boadum is God’s battle axe. In many instances, when the Body of Christ has come under attack in the public eye, he has stepped up to speak openly in defense of the Church. In the late 1980s, when the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) attempted to crack down on churches and other religious organisations through the imposition of a controversial law that required all religious bodies to register with the Ministry of the Interior so as to make them accountable to the government, Rev Anyani-Boadum toured parts of the nation with a message of encouragement to the pentecostal and charismatic fraternity not to panic or fold up. To help the younger Pentecostal and Charismatic churches who had little or no influence, no physical infrastructure, or financial backing, as well as churches that were meeting in homes, classrooms, and under trees, Rev Anyani-Boadum formed the Indigenous Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (IPCC) to engage government officials on behalf of these churches who were vulnerable to the demands of the PNDC law 221. He mobilized the growing Charismatic fraternity in the country to meet and engage the Religious Affairs Department of the PNDC to explain the difficulties these younger churches will have with the government’s directives. Without this effort, many small independent churches would have been wiped out by the government decree. Again, when various government agencies come up with directives from time to time threatening the expulsion of churches in government schools, Anyani Boadum takes it personally. To tackle the issue more sustainably, he mobilized these troubled churches to register the Association of Churches in Public Schools to give them a voice in negotiating with city and metropolitan authorities as well as the Heads of the government schools.
In 2014, the influential ‘West Africa International’ magazine named him the FACE Of INTEGRITY. He was awarded a Noble Citizen of West Africa by the West Africa Nobles Fellowship. Rev. Nana Anyani-Boadum serves on the Board of Regent University College of Science and Technology. He is the convener of the Christian Leaders Forum, which seeks to improve organizational excellence in church governance through leadership seminars, lectures, publications, and roundtable discussions.

Happy 70th Birthday Rev. Anyani-Boadum. I thank God for your life. God bless you abundantly for allowing God to use you to open our eyes (my big Sister and I) to spiritual realms in the late 1990s. It was a one-time distant encounter at a programme near P & T (then) at Nkrumah Circle but it has made a lasting impact on our families today. Your humility and selflessness are eternal treasures to emulate. God continue to anoint you for more impartation. As your days, so shall your strength be. When I count my blessings I count you first, because you’re my first spiritual father, first pastor first church and my saviour. At age 22 when there was no hope to live again God sent me your way to save my life and I became a believer sat under your leadership for years. I followed you to your church without you knowing this, from Tema to Accra branch and with the leading of the Holy Spirit you identified me from the congregation and added me to your prayer team. You held my hand to grow in the Lord. Not only that you sheltered and fed me and I felt part of your immediate family. I have always called you Dad , my sage and it means the world to me. You have won a fruitful soul to the Lord and that is me. Live till you are ready to declare to your maker it’s time to see you. For the race has been ran the fight has been fought and the battle has been won. You’re loved Great Apostle
